Some Roomba® Robot Vacuums and Braava® Robot Mops are designed to automatically return to charge when their battery is running low. Once your robot has enough battery power, the robot will automatically resume cleaning where it left off. This allows your robot to cover spaces that require more than a single charge to complete.
Your robot's light right will display a blue pattern indicating when it is returning to its dock to recharge. The iRobot® HOME App and Roomba® Home App will also indicate when this recharging process has begun.
Once the battery has charged enough to resume its mission, or the maximum charging time has elapsed, the mission resume song will play, and the light ring will show the resume pattern. At this point, the robot will continue the mission it had started.
Some models, like the s9, m6, or i series, employ Smart Recharge and Resume. This behavior, which utilizes Smart Maps, allows your robot to understand what has already been cleaned, and what is still left to clean. This way, your robot will only charge the battery enough to complete the current mission. However, while your robot is still learning, and your Smart Maps have not been fully customized, it may charge for longer than it will in the future when utilizing this behavior. Please use the chart below to understand how long your robot may charge before resuming the cleaning job.
